B.G.I. Was established in 1990 by two highly skilled and experienced decorative applicators with over 32 years of combined field commissions. They installed a wide range of specialty coatings worldwide on both commercial and residential sites. Over time they came to a complete understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of the spectrum of coatings specified for the many surfaces they encountered. Out of necessity they enlisted the support of a reputable coatings chemist and challenged him to develop a formula for a trowel applied clear coat that would be tintable, have a range of sheen capabilities, be non-toxic, mixable with venetian plaster (for layered transparencies), contain no wax (100 % acrylic) and be capable of accepting paint/primer directly over itself without the need for costly removal or prep work. After extensive testing and on site installation they were pleased to find that this coating was performing to remarkable standards. They had developed their first product and then named it DURAGLOSS. It occurred to us that the venetian plaster industry could greatly benefit from this coating, and it was decided based on the success of this initial endeavor to continue investing in the development of a complete range of products that would respond to the demands of both the applicator and industry, providing the flexibility that had been missing from the many systems they had tried. After two and one half years of testing, formulating and extensive installation, a line of coatings developed that were dependable, easy to install, and gained the respect of architects and designers everywhere. Together with a talented design team, knowledgeable staff tried and tested installation techniques and a little luck the Briste Group (B.G.I.) introduced their line into the global coatings community with overwhelming response and support from both dealer and applicator. To date the B.G.I. line includes; Duragloss, Smoothrock Venetian Plaster, Smoothrock Pearls and Metals, Versiplast, Faux Contractors Glaze, Faux Grip, Faux Dead Flat Varnish, Masters Glaze, Glitterock, and Groundstone. We have also become the distribution channel for a wide range of coatings that we feel bring new and useful advancement to our ever-changing market.
